$10M to build blockbuster web3 games the right way

July 27, 2022
Mighty Bear Games

Say hi to Mighty Bear Games! They're a top Singapore-based game developer that creates mobile-first and multi-platform games. Now, they've just raised a $10M round.

  • They collaborate with platforms and companies like Disney and Pixar with games like Disney Meelee Mania and Butter Royale.

Investor check. Framework Ventures led the round. Mirana, Sfermion, Spartan, Dune Ventures, Polygon, Sanctor Capital, Folius Ventures, Everblue, Ancient8, Ready Player DAO, Razer, Avocado DAO, DWeb3, Great South Gate and more also joined in.

👾 1, 2, Web3!

The new $$$ to launch their blockchain arm, where they'll be developing web3 games!

What they're doing differently? They say that current web3 games aren't rewarding and don't have the same imaginative gameplay and polish that regular (non-web3) games have.

  • Play-to-earn shouldn't feel tough and boring. (That's why it has the word "play" in it.)

They'll build games focused on fun and the experience. Owning and earning from the games will just be a built-in feature — instead of being the main reason for people to play.

  • The goal? Build "Triple-A" web3 games (the game equivalent of blockbusters). High-budget, high-profile games produced or distributed by huge, well-known publishers.

👏🏼 Time for firsts

Their first blockchain game will be Mighty Action Heroes, which is set to launch late this year! It's a multiplayer third-person battle royale game where 60 players battle to be the last one standing.

  • It'll be run on Polygon, a carbon-neutral Ethereum scaling platform that allows people to build decentralized apps (dApps) and platforms.
  • Before the launch, they'll be launching the Mighty Action Heroes NFT profile photo (PFP) collection that comes with perks.
