Get help from Gravel! This Indonesian construction startup makes finding construction professionals and workers easier, and they just raised $14M!

  • Launched in 2019, they claim to have seen 45X revenue growth between 2020 and 2022.

6K projects and counting. Oh, and they’ve completed projects across 20 provinces, including the Greater Jakarta Light Rail Transit, the Jakarta International Stadium, and more!

Investor check. New Enterprise Associates (NEA), Marvell Technology Group co-founder Weili Dai, Cadence Design System executive chairman Lip-Bu Tan, SMDV, East Ventures, and other strategic investors funded the round.

  • This is NEA’s first Southeast Asian investment.

🤝 Get connected

The process of finding skilled construction workers is a pain—especially in rural areas.

Gravel has a smart matching service called Personalized Job Feed that cuts down the time spent searching for construction workers from weeks to just minutes!

  • All the 1.7M workers in the platform are pre-vetted and have prior construction experience.

🏟️ Some more detail

But hiring daily construction workers is just one part of their product. Gravel also has these features connected to their app, SalamChat.

  • Gravel Borongan. For construction with lump sum contract
  • Gravel Maintenance. For instant home fixing and repairing services
  • Gravel Material. For tools and materials procurement.

The goal is to make it easier for anyone to build, renovate, and repair living, working, and recreational spaces.

🛠️ What’s next?

Gravel is currently only active in Indonesia, but they’re planning to expand to global markets soon.

  • Oh, and they’re set to roll out a predictive model that’s designed to monitor the progress of construction projects.
