Here’s Pyxis. This Singaporean startup is making the local maritime industry more sustainable by electrifying maritime fleets and building electric vessels. And they just raised a $3.3M ($4.5M SGD*) seed!
Investor check. Motion Ventures and Shift4Good co-led the round, while SEEDS Capital, MarImpact, ShipsFocus, Tian San Shipping, Kim Ann Investments, and LLC Resources joined in.
🛳️ One vessel at a time
Last year, the Maritime Port Authority of Singapore (MPA) required all new harbor crafts operating in the country to be fully electric, run on pure biodiesel, or be compatible with net zero fuels by 2030.
FYI. The vessels are traditionally fueled by diesel.
Oh, and all harbor crafts were also required to achieve net zero emissions by 2050.
🔎 Some more detail
Their electric maritime vessel, Pyxis One, is fully electric, sail-free, silent, and good for the planet. Oh, and according to their website, it’s also coming soon.
Milestones. Earlier this year, Pyxis, along with SP Mobility, was selected by the MPA to pilot its vessel charging concept at the Marina South Pier.
💸 What’s with the $$$?
They’ll focus on the development of their electrification tech and scale up the production of their electric harbor crafts.
