Aaand set! New Zealand’s Neocrete develops an additive to make low-carbon concrete at a low cost. Now, they’ve just raised $3.5M!

Investor check. Wavemaker Ventures led the round, with Icehouse Ventures and Catalytic Capital for Climate and Health joining.

🫸🏼 The ABCs of Neocrete

Did you know? Around 8% of the world’s total carbon dioxide emissions come from the cement manufacturing industry.

Founded in 2018, Neocrete has developed a proprietary additive that enables manufacturers to replace 30 to 50% of conventional cement with low-quality materials such as fly ash and volcanic ash.

  • This reduces both the cost and carbon emissions of cement without affecting its performance.
  • They work with cement and ready-mix concrete producers to help more companies transition to low-carbon building materials.

In real life. Their tech is currently being used in SEA through Readymix Brunei, where their cement solution is being used in the redevelopment of the Muara Port.

👣 Their next steps

With the fresh capital, Neocrete will deepen its deployment in SEA.

  • They’ll also expand into the European and US markets.
