Agritech

$3.8M to be everything Indonesia's farmers need

December 15, 2022
Eratani

Say hey to Eratani! This Indonesian agritech startup is an end-to-end farm management platform to support farmers with everything they need across the entire farming process. And now, they've just raised a $3.8M seed!

  • Founded in 2021, they've onboarded 10,000 farmers across Java that manage over 8,000 hectares of land that support the production of 52,000 tons of rice.

Investor check. TNB Aura led the round. AgFunder, Trihill Capital, and B.I.G. Ventures also joined in!

🤨 Why it matters

Indonesia's agriculture is still extremely fragmented, with many smallholder farmers that manage their own farmlands.

The problem? They have limited access to financing, quality supplies and the wider market.

  • Farmers end up borrowing money to purchase supplies (like seeds). They can pay off the loans after selling the crops, but they have to pay a huge interest of around 20% a month — trapping them in debt. Yikes.

👨🏻‍🌾 How it works

No money? No problem. Get working capital for your farming needs.

Learn from the experts. Access agronomists who share data-backed strategies to increase your crop yield, like which agricultural inputs to use and usage guides.

  • Eratani also collects field data statistics to improve farm productivity.

They've got the goods. They offer easy access to high-quality farming supplies like fertilizers, insecticides and more.

Sell, sell, sell. No more stressing out about how fast, how much and who you can sell your produce to. Focus on farming and leave selling to Eratani, who will buy your produce at a fair and standardized price.

  • Produce can even be processed through Eratani's rice milling plants too!

💥 What's next?

They'll be scaling their operations, digitizing more agricultural processes, leveling up their farming management programs and expanding across Indonesia!

  • 2024 vision. They plan to power over 50,000 farmers by the end of 2024.
  • They'll also be working with the Agricultural Ministry of Indonesia and the Indonesian State Logistics Agency (BULOG).
