Dog moms and dads, here’s Buddy Bites. They’re a Hong Kong-founded pet food startup that sells premium dog and cat food across HK and Singapore.

  • Now, they’ve just raised a $4.2M Series A!
  • FYI. This is their first institutional venture funding round since they were founded in 2020.

Investor check. Digitalis Ventures led the round, while Hong Kong venture investor Adrian Lai also invested.

🐾 Nibble that kibble

Buddy Bites sells Europe-made, vet-approved, AAFCO-regulated food and treats for dogs and cats. Customers can buy their products at stores across Hong Kong or avail of a flexible subscription plan. (They’re currently only selling D2C in Singapore).

  • For a cause. They partner with 8 shelters across HK and Singapore to donate 1kg of pet food for every 2kg they sell.

Run the numbers. Buddy Bites says they’ve generated over $6M in annual recurring revenue. Oh, and they also said that subscriptions now account for 85.9% of revenue.

🇹🇼  What’s next?

They’ll use the fresh capital to expand to Taiwan, where there is a high level of urban pet ownership.

  • They’ll also use the $$$ to grow their subscription service.

APAC power-up. According to Euromonitor International, APAC is the third-largest market for pet care among the world's major regions.

  • IN SEA, growth is fueled by a growing pet population, an evolving consumer base, and improving quality of living.
