Bye-bye, packaging waste. Here’s Sirsak, a B2B startup that collects and recycles packaging waste across Indonesia. Now, they just raised a $600K pre-seed!

Investor check. Openspace Ventures led the round, while The Radical Fund also joined in.

🗑️ Better for everyone

Founded in 2023, Sirsak’s Packaging Recovery Program helps businesses manage the recovery and recycling of packaging waste.

They also connect brands with waste pickers, aggregators, and recyclers.

  • Businesses can request Sirsak’s help to map out their waste reduction programs and claim their impact.

Why that matters. Local businesses have to be compliant with the government’s Extended Producer Responsibility mandate, which holds them accountable for the entire lifecycle of their products even after consumer use.

🛍️ What’s next?

They’ll use the $$$ to develop an enhanced traceability system, research on low-value packaging, and expand their recycling partner network.

  • Oh, Sirsak also plans to recover 4K tons of waste and have 1K waste collection points in the coming months.
