Say hi to Zero-Error Systems (ZES)! This Singapore-based startup protects semiconductor devices from radiation, making space missions more efficient. And they just raised $7.5M in a Series A

  • A little history. The company started at Nanyang Technological University in Singapore, where it was founded by veterans in the semiconductor industry.
  • So far, their tech is used by 3 Japanese satellites and 1 European satellite operator.

Investor check. Airbus Ventures and the Dart family office helped fund the round.

  • This brings their total funding raised to $10M!

🛰️ Not safe for space

Despite what the Minions movie made us believe, it’s not that easy to reach the moon.

When it comes to space missions, building space-grade hardware is just as important as developing software and algorithms.

  • The problem? Space isn’t exactly friendly to materials like semiconductors.
  • Most commercial-off-the-shelves (COTS) semiconductor devices short-circuit when exposed to radiation in space.

🧑🏻‍🚀 To infinity and beyond

ZES provides protection to COTS with their patented radiation hardening tech. This lets them “address essential power reliability and data integrity concerns”.

  • Harder, better, faster, stronger. They also offer high-reliability semiconductor integrated circuits and reliability testing services.
  • This means that our space vehicles can have longer lifetimes and better battery life—at a lower cost!

They’ve got the power. ZES’ power management tech can also be applied to consumer electronics. Here's to better battery life for our smartphones and smart devices.

🚀 Where are they headed?

The new $$$ will help them grow their team and support their research in Singapore.

  • We’re international, baby. They’re also going to focus on acquiring global customers!
