Say hey to Indonesia's Agriaku! This agritech startup's a B2B marketplace for farmers to access more supplies at great prices easily. Oh, and they just raised a $6M Pre-Series A, led by Gojek's Go-Ventures.
Who else cashed in? MDI Arise, MDI Centauri, Mercy Corps Social Venture Fund and several angels πΌπ» also joined the round.
πΎΒ How it works
Its B2B marketplace helps retailers (aka, agents) to buy supplies, like seeds, fertilizers and agrochemicals. Then, these agents sell these to farmers in their local communities.
Plus, agents also get business tools, like bookkeeping and inventory management, to help them forecast what farmers need.
Lessons learned. Agriaku's founders found that selling directly to farmers didn't work.
π What's next?
Especially if you're in operations, supply chain, product and tech, prep those resumes, prep your resumes! They're growing the team, their market presence and product ecosystem.
Why it matters. The agricultural industry is about 13.5% of Indonesia's GDP. So, they want to grow Agriaku to support the entire agricultural value chain as an end-to-end platform to address inefficiencies across the industry.
