Another acquisition for the books. Coda, which enables users to pay global digital publishers, has acquired Recharge, a prepaid payments platform headquartered in Amsterdam.
A little help? The transaction is backed by Apis Partners, Insight Partners, Smash Capital, along with Coda’s other investors.
Full steam ahead. According to a statement, based on 2024 figures, the combined business would have processed over $1.75B in sales, reaching over 200M users across more than 180 markets.
♠️ Who’s the buyer?
Launched in 2011, Coda enables leading mobile gaming and digital content publishers like Riot Games, HoYoverse, and Moonton to accept $$$ from over 400 local payment options.
The challenge. They’re global companies that need to be able to accept money through different payment channels across countries.
🪷 The benefits
For Coda. The move will speed up Coda’s expansion beyond gaming and increase its capacity to serve the broader digital content economy.
👋🏼 And for Recharge?
The acquisition will enable Recharge to access Coda’s B2B expertise and relationships with global digital publishers and platforms. It will also accelerate their expansion into high-potential markets in Asia!
