Bain & Company set to acquire venture-building studio Rainmaking APAC

July 11, 2023

Are we ready for another power coupling? Bain & Company recently announced its intention to acquire the APAC branch of startup development studio, Rainmaking.

  • The deal is still subject to review, but it’s expected to close at the end of the month!
  • If it pushes through, this will expand Bain’s venture-building program, Next.

💥 What’s Next?

Bain’s one of the big 3 global management consulting firms. But they’re making moves in venture building.

They launched Next last year, a business-building initiative that helps launch startups from seed to scale.

  • Next has connections with over 200 experts in the startup and VC ecosystem!

☂️ Making it rain

Rainmaking is a global venture-building studio that helps build and scale startups in various industries.

  • Their 50 entrepreneurial talents are active across key markets like Singapore, South Korea, and Japan.
  • So far, Rainmaking APAC's portfolio companies have generated about $880M SGD ($652M) in funding and a combined equity value of over $9B SGD ($6.6B).

They’re in demand. As companies face more pressure to stay relevant and grow, they’re turning to venture-building studios for guidance.

🤝 Volting in

This deal will allow Rainmaking to scale rapidly—increasing the volume of portfolio and their likelihood of success.

  • Oh, and because of Bain’s deep corporate network in the region, Rainmaking can bring in specialists who can better train founders and entrepreneurs to build and scale their startups.

📈 What the future holds?

Rainmaking APAC will retain its brand and operate independently under Bain’s innovation and design unit.
