April 19, 2023
BetterPlace x Troopers

Guess who got acquired? It’s Troopers. They’re a Malaysia-based provider of on-demand, part-time frontline workers.

Since its launch in 2017, Troopers has connected Malaysian enterprises with more than 50,000 pre-screened frontline workers.

  • Who’s behind the acquisitionBetterPlace is a frontline workers management platform founded in India.
  • The deal amount is undisclosed.

😀 BetterPlace

BetterPlace offers comprehensive workforce management, from verifying and discovering talent to onboarding, upskilling, and managing productivity. Oh, they also help with employee benefits.

Why acquire? BetterPlace is looking to leave its mark all across Southeast Asia and address pain points in the blue collar space through multiple products.

  • Recently, they also acquired a major stake in MyRobin — a blue-collar workforce fulfillment company in Indonesia.

👷 Frontline Workers

Frontline workers typically perform their duties in retail stores, restaurants, beauty salons, trucking, construction, factories and warehouses.

  • There are $2B frontline workers worldwide.
  • This represents 80% of the global workforce!!!

Pain points? This is a large worker population with increasing attrition rates which leads to high costs for employers

  • Compared to the white collar space, frontline workers remain underserved with regards to tech-enabled solutions.
