It's time to meet Indonesia's Sirka! It's a personal health coaching app that runs paid programs to help people lose weight, prevent and manage chronic diseases and boost long-term health. Oh, and they just raised a $2.6M seed.
Who cashed in? AC Ventures and Wavemaker co-led the round. Sequoia, Y Combinator, Goodwater Capital, and several angels, including Tim Lee (ex-Sequoia), Henry Hendrawan (Traveloka) and singer-entrepreneur Maudy Ayunda joined in.
Why it matters. Obesity can lead to tons of chronic healthcare issues like diabetes, high blood pressure and stroke. Starting with tackling obesity is Sirka's focus — prevention, not cure!
💪🏼 How it works
Low-cost, high value. Just pay for its three or six-month program in-app, and you'll get a personalized plan backed by data and certified dietitians. (Who says you need to spend tons of $$$ at a clinic?)
Accessible. You get unlimited chats and daily check-ins with your coach in-app. You'll also get your progress monitored weekly for any needed adjustments.
In it for the long haul. Its programs are habit-focused lifestyle changes, so they're meant to be sustainable. They're practical, torture-free and backed by nutritionists.
💰 What's with the $$$?
It's building its community, launching partnerships with medical advisors, F&B suppliers and medication providers. On the tech side, it's also tripling its tech team and improving its platform.
The newsletter that keeps you up-to-date on the top stories on tech and business in Southeast Asia. It's fun, quick and free.
