Historic! GIC and Temaesk, two of Singapore’s sovereign wealth funds, joined Anthropic’s $65B Series H funding round at a $965B post-money valuation.

  • The company last raised its Series G round earlier in February.
  • With this, Anthropic is now officially worth more than OpenAI.

Investor check. Altimeter Capital, Dragoneer, Greenoaks, and Sequoia Capital led the round, while GIC joined as a co-lead investor, along with Capital Group, Coatue, D1 Capital Partners, ICONIQ, and XN.

  • Temasek, along with investors like Roew Price Investment Management, BlackStone, Shaw Ventures, and more, joined as a significant investor.

Some more detail. Oh, and this raise also includes $15B of previously committed investments from hyperscalers, including $5B from Amazon, Anthropic’s main cloud and training partner.

🪜 Anthropic’s growth

Anthropic, which created the Claude family of AI models, reported that their annualized run-rate revenue crossed $47B in early May.

  • Extra Scoop: Anthropic recently released Claude Opus 4.8, which offers greater reliability for agentic tasks and allows users to use up to 1K AI subagents at once.

💸 What’s with the $$$?

Anthropic says that the fresh capital will be used to advance safety and interpretability research, expand its compute infrastructure, and scale its products and partnerships.

  • According to Anthropic’s Chief Financial Officer Krishna Rao, the funding will help with the firm’s “historic demand”.
  • To support demand, Anthropic has made major compute agreements with Amazon, Google, and SpaceX.
