Well, that was quick. Indonesia's got a new player in its quick-commerce space. Make way for Bananas, a quick-commerce startup that promises deliveries in 10 minutes.
Money talk. It just raised a $1.5M seed led by East Ventures. SMDV, Arise, MDI Ventures, Y Combinator and other angels also cashed in. (And yes, they got that fresh $500k deal from YC.)
⏪ Backstory
Founded in late 2021, it delivers fresh fruits, vegetables, meat, drinks and other groceries to you in 10 minutes from its tech-powered dark stores (aka, micro hubs).
🛒 The grocer-race
Since people can't exactly go out to the grocery whenever they want, we've turned to e-groceries. And companies like Grab, foodpanda, HappyFresh and Sayurbox make it possible. Order now, get it in (hopefully) 30 minutes or schedule it for another day.
Go, quick! Then, quick commerce and its almost-instant deliveries made its way to Indonesia with ASTRO, which raised a $27M Series A last week. Now, Bananas joins the mix. (Any other pure-play quick-commerce startups in stealth? Show yourselves!)
🏍 Next stop
It's #hiring and launching at least 50 dark stores to expand across Jakarta and other Tier 1 cities in Indonesia.
