Helping women feel more comfortable during red days

November 14, 2023

Ladies, here’s Yoona! This D2C wellness startup offers organic 100% cotton sanitary napkins while promoting women’s health awareness. Now, they just raised their seed round.

Investor check. CyberAgent Capital led the round, while some individual investors also joined in!

  • They’re keeping the exact size of the deal undisclosed.

🩷 You’re awesome, period

Period problems and female reproductive health are usually taboo topics.

That’s why most girls don’t know where to find reliable information on how to deal with mood swings, hormonal acne, weight gain, and a whole lot more.

Random articles on the internet won’t help that much!

  • Yoona wants to be the go-to source of period care and female wellness information for girls online.
  • They’re also active IRL—doing school visits and organizing gatherings with their community.

Now…back to the product! Most napkins are made of synthetic materials like rayon and polyester.

And the ones that are made of cotton? They aren’t always organic, so they are often bleached with chlorine to get that white color. (This can cause irritation and negative health effects.)

  • Yoona’s pads are made from organic cotton with thin yet breathable layers.
  • Bye-bye, fungi? Their pads also have an anion strip with nano silver that they claim can remove bacteria and fungi that cause irritation and odors.

Why it matters. Women will use around 350 packs of plastic napkins in their lifetime!

🩸 What’s next?

They will expand their physical presence in brick-and-mortar stores. Oh, and they’ll also develop new products.

An earlier version of the article misinterpreted the number of napkins women use in their lifetime. We've edited this to reflect the correct statistic.
