Domenico Tan is the co-founder and COO of Gobble, a social food ordering startup. Before Gobble, he also headed regional operations at Delivery Hero and CloudKitchens.

👋🏼  How would you explain your job to someone outside tech?

At Gobble, we focus a lot of time on building our relationships with our restaurants and users.

The bulk of my day-to-day is spent talking to restaurants, understanding their pain points and how we can try to solve these for them.

It's also about building the community with our end users. So, being on the ground during any activations and vibing the energy of our brand ambassadors and community team.

In short, my job is primarily about listening and socializing with people that we care about at Gobble and building those relationships, so definitely not complaining.

🧐  What's something about you or your job that would surprise us?

‍Before I got into tech and startups, my first job was working at a French restaurant as a cook!

🏆  What has been the biggest highlight of your career so far?

It has to be launching Gobble. Gobble has been on my mind for the past couple of years, and seeing it come to life is always exciting. And at the same time, we know we are building something that not only improves our food ordering experience but also brings together friends.

🔍  What's a startup trend or space you're watching this year?

The Web3 social landscape. Web3 social products leverage values such as user-ownership to empower users while providing a familiar user experience to Web2. More importantly, users can now form communities over shared sets of values, co-creating and growing the brand value together.

💼  What advice would you give someone starting out in your industry?

Definitely surround yourself with people who will support you at each stage of your career.

Always be eager to learn - you don't have to know everything, but just having the hunger to learn and work hard will get you further than most.

All things food lol restaurants, coffee, food tech
