Justin Chan is the founder and director of Metier Food, a Singaporean F&B company that creates healthy, convenient, and sustainable food products. They sell powdered protein shakes through Heal Nutrition and pea-based milk through Snappea. Yes, you heard that right, pea!

Launched in 2017, you can find Metier Food in over 1,000 retail stores across 7 countries today. They were 1 of 12 startups who were selected for Endeavor Malaysia’s ScaleUp Program in 2022.

β€πŸ‘‹πŸΌ How would you explain your job to someone outside tech?

We create great health food and beverage products based on 4 pillars: Healthy, Tasty, Convenient & Sustainable for the consumers.

🧐 What's something about you or your job that would surprise us?

I am practi[cing] [a] minimalistic lifestyle and my favorite brand is Uniqlo. Fun fact: I have probably 10 pieces of Uniqlo Crew Neck T-shirts, just in different colors.

πŸ† What has been the biggest highlight of your career so far?

Being selected as one of the top 12 business[es] by Endeavor in their Scale-Up Program. It really opened up our horizon[s] and provided the opportunity to learn from the best mentors in the industry.

πŸ” What's a startup trend or space you're watching this year?‍

AI space, as I believe tools like ChatGPT and Midjourney will definitely change the job market entirely.

πŸ’Ό What advice would you give someone starting out in your industry?Β 

To create great food products, always put yourself in the shoes of customers.

πŸ—£ What's one thing you can keep talking about for hours?Β 

I prefer having hours of daydreaming, instead of talking. It helps me to clear up my thoughts and keep me focused.

The Pursuit of Happyness.
