Marc Palet is an Associate leading APAC investments for OMVC, a global early-stage venture fund focusing on fintech, AI, and climate-tech.

👋🏼 How would you explain your job to someone outside tech?

My job is to find founders who have recently launched a tech start-up. I get to know them, understand the problems they're tackling, and figure out whether we should invest in them. 

If we invest, I work closely with them and support in different ways as they grow the business.

🧐 What's something about you or your job that would surprise us?

As a global fund, we’re present in Singapore, San Francisco, New York, and Honolulu. 

I’m the one holding down the fort in Asia, so I work solo and pretty far from the rest of the team.

🏆 What has been the biggest highlight of your career so far?

Leaving the Spanish venture scene during COVID and moved to Asia to build my career here. 

It was a big shift, but probably the best decision I've ever made.

🔍 What's a startup trend or space you're watching this year?‍

Stablecoins. I believe they have the power to improve cross-border payments in emerging markets (such as SEA). 

Over the last six months, we've seen strong tailwinds that have led to the current momentum, but there’s still a long road ahead for broader adoption.

💼 What advice would you give someone starting out in your industry? 

Start building relationships early; they compound like interest. And always try to form your own views - don't chase consensus.

🗣 What's one thing you can keep talking about for hours? 

I had to start my own newsletter to stop bothering my friends with constant geopolitics talk... so I'll have to go with that.

Prison Break.

Pistachio.
