Ronald Ishak is the co-founder and CEO of Hacktiv8, an edtech startup that teaches Indonesians how to code and helps them land jobs as web developers. He's also a Partner at RMKB Ventures, which invests in Indonesian seed-stage companies.


👋🏼  How would you explain your job to someone outside tech?

I help aspiring developers find their first jobs!

🧐  What's something about you or your job that would surprise us?

I don't take a salary from Hacktiv8, but all the graduates coming out of Hacktiv8 go on and help my portfolio companies grow and succeed!


🏆  What has been the biggest highlight of your career so far?

Discovering my purpose of helping others beyond anything else I do. Investing in people and seeing others grow has been the most rewarding experience for me.

🔍  What's a startup trend or space you're watching this year?

Mental health and remote work. Working in a remote environment while still being able to be excellent. Allowing space for vulnerability at work.

💼  What advice would you give someone starting out in your industry?

It's all about people. Putting great people together, cultivating leaders and investing in relationships. Optimize for trust, and everything else will fall into place.

🗣  What's one thing you can keep talking about for hours?

Blockchain, DeFi, Web3, Smart Contracts and the future of the web.

Everything Star Wars, Book of Boba Fett.
