Steve Sia Sy is the Founder and CEO of Great Deals, an end-to-end Philippine e-commerce enabler that helps global and local brands sell and grow online. Last year, they raised a $30M Series B!

👋🏼 How would you explain your job to someone outside tech?

I oversee the whole business operations of Great Deals Ecommerce Corp., leading people and managing processes.

🧐 What's something about you or your job that would surprise us?

Even though we are in the e-commerce industry, I have nearly zero tech capabilities. In short, a non-geek and not techie at all.

🏆 What has been the biggest highlight of your career so far?

We were recognized by Statista and The Philippine Daily Inquirer as the fastest-growing company for 2022 in the Philippines.

Furthermore, we were recognized by Financial Times and Statista as the fastest-growing company in Asia-Pacific for 2022. As a Filipino company, that would be the highlight of my career, beating companies with bigger economies like South Korea, Japan, Australia, Indonesia and Singapore.

🔍 What's a startup trend or space you're watching this year?

Live streaming and the content creation of short videos for selling online.

💼 What advice would you give someone starting out in your industry?

Start now, start small, adjust fast.

🗣 What's one thing you can keep talking about for hours?

Business and e-commerce!

🎥 What's your favorite movie/TV show?

Brave Heart

🍨 What's your go-to ice cream flavor?

Vanilla
