👋🏼 How would you explain your job to someone outside tech?

I look after sales, marketing, tech & operations for Waitrr, which provides QR ordering & payments solutions for restaurants, bars, hotels & cafes in seven countries.

🧐 What's something about you or your job that would surprise us?

Waitrr pivoted from being a B2C company, where users had to download a native app to order & pay, to being a B2B company. 

Restaurant guests can now order & pay from within their phone's browser without downloading an app.

🏆 What has been the biggest highlight of your career so far?

I usually don't like to celebrate a highlight until it's happened, but Waitrr will be profitable by September this year (if not sooner) — and that will be a massive highlight for the whole team.

🔍 What's a startup trend or space you're watching this year?‍

I closely follow restaurant tech and fintech, as you might expect.

Like everyone else, I'm also fascinated by AI-powered tools like chatbots, image generators, music generators, etc. Seeing how job roles and industries evolve in response to these technologies will be amazing.

💼 What advice would you give someone starting out in your industry? 

If you're launching a startup, listen to your advisors, test, learn and iterate continuously.

If you're launching an F&B business, you're likely going to struggle to recruit service staff, so give us a call :)

🗣 What's one thing you can keep talking about for hours? 

I'm a huge business nerd. I love talking with founders about what they're working on and how it addresses a particular problem.

🎥 What's your favorite movie/TV show? 

I love movies, so I could give you a big list, but we watched Sing 2 with our kids the other day, and it was surprisingly great. In terms of TV shows, I love Ted Lasso.
