Kora’s got a new model for corn

September 19, 2023

More corn with Kora! This Indonesia-based startup offers efficient corn drying tech for smallholder farmers to maximize their yields.

  • Already profitable? Kora claims they have sold almost 11M kilograms of corn and achieved up to $2M in revenue within ten months!

Investor check. Antler and eFishery co-founder and CEO, Gibran Huzaifah led the round.

🌽 What Kora is cooking

Corn is a valued commodity in Indonesia, used for animal feed and fueling biomass power plants.

But…high costs, many middlemen, and lack of access to major corporate buyers make it tough for smallholder farmers to sell corn–let alone process it.

Farmers could be earning much more!

  • Where Kora comes in? They process wet corn into ready-to-be-sold products that the poultry feeding industry can use.
  • They currently have 130 farmer partners, and Kora claims to have increased their income by 25 to 38%.

Coming for your corn. Kora adds that their tech helps farmers produce corn that’s more nutritious and consistent, enabling them to sell to large-scale buyers.

🐔 What the future holds?

Kora will expand their operations and double down on supporting more farmers in Lampung.

  • Long-term goals? They want to triple their corn production (100 tons a day) by the end of 2023 and by 5x in 2024.
  • Oh, and they might also expand to other agricultural commodities!
