Let’s get radical! The Radical Fund, which primarily invests in pre-seed to pre-Series A climatetech ventures, just announced the first close of their $40M fund!

  • They’re part of the Utopia Capital Management Group, which supports over 130 startups.

Who to know. The fund is backed by regional family offices from the Philippines, Singapore, and Thailand.

  • Individual investors from the US and Europe also contributed.
  • The exact amount of the first close is not disclosed.

🔤 The ABCs of Radical Fund

They’re looking to invest in early-stage and scalable ventures that solve climate change issues.

  • You don’t have to be in climatetech! As long as you create an impact in the climate sector, they’ll take an interest in you.
  • That means startups in agri, food, circular economy, finance, and other industries are on their radar!

About them. They’re a six-person team based in Bangkok and are currently looking for team members in the Philippines, Vietnam, and Indonesia.

👁️‍🗨️ That radical vision

Their main vision is to boost SEA’s green startup investments, which are currently at a slowdown.

  • For context. A report from Bain, Temasek, GenZero, and AWS showed that the region needs $1.5T in investments to meet 2030 emissions targets.

Hands-on. Apart from their equity-based capital, they also offer hands-on technical and operational support to their founders.

🌿 What the future holds?

They’re planning to invest in over 30 companies—with ticket sizes ranging from $200K to $800K!

  • They’re looking to announce their first investment later this year.
