Neutura gets angel funding for carbon projects

December 13, 2023

Here’s Neutura. They’re a carbon removal company that uses biochar to remove gigatons of carbon in the atmosphere. Now, they just received angel funding to launch projects next year.

  • What’s biochar? It’s a carbon-rich material produced by Neutura from agricultural waste. Oh, and it’s capable of locking carbon in for over 500 years.

Investor check. The angel investors weren’t named and the amount raised was undisclosed.

🖤 The ABCs of Neutura

To prevent the harmful effects of agricultural waste burning, Neutura has come up with a more eco-friendly solution.

Their biochar product, which is made from a process called pyrolysis, can improve soil health and fertility and enhance crop yield.

Wood vinegar, a byproduct of the process, can also be used as a natural pesticide and fertilizer.

  • But that’s not where the magic stops. Their processed biochar can be incorporated into the soil to sequester carbon!
  • That’s when carbon is stored so it’s not emitted into the atmosphere—this reduces greenhouse gases and lessens the impact on the climate.

Getting the $$$. They can generate revenue by selling carbon credits and their biochar product.

😳 What’s coming up?

They’re preparing to launch two lighthouse projects in Indonesia and Southern Europe by 2024.

💡COP28 update

When it comes to stopping the climate crisis, the odds are not in our favor. That’s why very important people organize yearly summits to try and do something about the state of the world.
