Pluang's hitting the Accel-erator

January 14, 2022
Pluang

Watch out, here comes Pluang. This Indonesian investment app just raised an additional $55M in follow-on Series B funding.

  • Its initial Series B was just four months ago, bringing the round's total to $110M.
  • It has over 4M users in Indonesia and grew its monthly transacting users around 22x over the past two years.

Making investments. Accel led the round. Apart from institutional investors BRI Ventures, Square Peg, Gojek's Go-Ventures, UOB Venture Management, Openspace Ventures and Gold House, Pluang's got a ton of individual investors:

  • 👼🏻: Axie Infinity's co-founders, Public.com (Robinhood rival)'s co-CEOs, LearnVest's ex-CEO, the Chainsmokers, Pismo's CTO, Monzo's COO, FalconX's CEO and Flink's CEO also cashed in.

🏆  Go for the gold

To convince people to invest, Pluang's founders started with what Indonesians trusted most — gold. They allowed them to invest with as little as $0.50 through their app.

  • Indonesia has over 80M gold holders. (FYI, that's 16x any other type of investment asset).
  • Majority of its users are first-time investors.

Work that network. It integrated with Indonesia's super apps like Gojek, DANA, Tokopedia and Bukalapak to offer its services to their millions of users.

😉  Fund-tastic options

Pluang knows that diversifying your investments is the way to go. And no, that doesn't mean just investing in different types of stocks. Get access to global assets and even crypto!

  • Invest in the S&P 500, NASDAQ 100, 30+ cryptocurrencies and mutual funds.

💵  What's with the $$$?

In its journey to being SEA's all-in-one investment app, it's launching more asset classes, like Indonesian stocks, more global equities and the ability to invest in fractional US stocks.

  • It also aims to expand across SEA and double its team of 250.
