Vroom vroom! Meet Bengkel Mania. This Indonesian startup just raised a seed round, and what they're doing is pretty unique.

  • They're the first to build solutions for MSME workshops in the automotive industry, like vehicle repair shops and spare parts shops.
  • Since their launch in December 2021, they already have over 750 partner workshops.

While the numbers are hush-hush, here's what you should know!

  • Alexander Rusli (ex-CEO, Indosat), Ahmad Zaky Amiruddin Kalla (President Director, PT Kalla Kakao Industri) and Joseph Lumban Gaol.

🏍 Motorcycle boom

Bengkel Mania's CEO shared that the number of motorcycles in Indonesia is rising, but there aren't nearly enough workshops to serve motorcycle owners. So, there need to be more workshops and more efficient workshops.

  • There are about 140M motorcycles, while there are only 400,000 workshops.
  • While other MSMEs have gone digital, MSMEs in the auto industry haven't digitized much and aren't as efficient because of this lack of tech.

Bengkel's building a one-stop shop for auto MSMEs, so they can digitize and make more money!

  • This promotes financial inclusion for auto MSME owners.

Supply chain. Shop for all the items your repair shop needs in one place.

  • Oh, and you won't need to shut down your store for the day to buy the items. The supplies and spare parts will be delivered to you!

Access to capital. Get loans for working capital, so it's easier for you to get enough cashflow for your repair shop.

  • The usual terms are 1–2 weeks but can be extended to up to 3–6 months.
  • They've already given out nearly $450k (70B IDR) in financing.

Digitization. Your workshop will be able to digitize and simplify processes. Start offering cashless payments, easily do bookkeeping and more!

  • Most auto workshops don't have cashless payment options!

And more. They're also keen to build more solutions, like educating auto MSME owners on marketing, using financial planning tools, and technology.
