Vision Labs raises $6M to help you train robots better

They’ve got a vision! Vision Labs is a Thai-founded startup that curates real-world industrial data to help AI labs and robotics companies train robots more effectively. The company raised a $6M seed earlier this month.

Investor check. Race Capital led the round, with Y Combinator, Foothill Ventures, and 500 Global joining as well as other investors.

👀 The ABCs of Vision Labs

Vision Labs partners with manufacturers to capture and structure operational knowledge into datasets.

Their datasets include both egocentric footage, showing how trained workers perform tasks, and exocentric footage, capturing broader factory context, workflows, tools, and operating conditions.

  • They partner with over 2K factories across Asia and Africa, mainly in China and India. (Although they want to expand their presence in SEA).
  • Participating factories have reportedly collectively earned over $1M in data licensing revenue.

Why their tech matters. There is currently little high-quality, real-world industrial training data available for training robot systems.

  • Vision Labs is trying to be the industrial data layer for robotics.

🗺️ What’s next?

They’ll use the fresh capital to expand their global factory network and scale their data pipeline infrastructure.

  • They’ll also grow their engineering and operating teams.
