Your Hero's here to save you from loan sharks

Salary Hero

Short on cash? Guess who's here to save the day — Salary Hero! They're a Thai earned wage access (EWA) startup that helps you receive your salary before payday, so you can always access cash in times of need. Now, they've just raised a $2.8M seed!

Who cashed in? Global Founders Capital, M Venture Partners, 500 Global, 1982 Ventures, Titan Capital and several Thai corporations and angels.

🤷🏻‍♀️ Why it matters

80% of Thai workers who earn less than $1000 a month have used loan sharks. They end up borrowing from lenders who charge monthly interest rates of 10–30%, trapping them in a cycle of more and more debt. 🥲

  • Lower-income individuals are also de-prioritized by banks when seen as less profitable customers than those with more $$$. They end up paying more than higher-income individuals for the same basic financial services. (Crazy, we know!)

🦸🏻‍♂️ Forget Superman

Having to deal with emergencies and unforeseen expenses shouldn't force you into debt!

Through Salary Hero's app, view the daily wages you've earned and access them whenever you need them.

  • If you have earned $75 in the past few weeks, then you can transfer the amount straight to your bank. No need to wait for payday or ask your boss.
  • Just pay a small fee (which your company can subsidize) to access Salary Hero.

Get smart on personal finance. They also have multiple modules on personal finance that'll teach you about EWA, budgeting, understanding interest rates and more.

💰 What's with the $$$?

With the cash, they're planning to move into neobanking products like at-source savings accounts, insurance, remittances, micro-investments and debt restructuring advice.
