Co-working

Your new favorite place(s) to work

Deskimo

Not feeling like working from home or the office today? Forget Starbucks; book a Deskimo space. The Singapore-based on-demand co-working startup raised a $3M seed round just four months after launch.

  • It's the future of work: 73% of employees now want flexible work to stay.
  • It's founded by Raphael Cohen (ex-head of Asia at Rocket Internet) and Christian Mischler (co-founder of foodpanda).

Who cashed in? Y Combinator (YC S21), Global Founders Capital, Pioneer Fund, SeedX, Starling Ventures and TVSC.

⚙️ How it works

Deskimo works with companies with a hybrid or remote model to offer the service to their employees, who usually work from home. It's not a new office — it's for those days you need some extra focus or need to have a meeting outside the house.

  • Anytime you feel like working from a new spot, find Deskimo space near you, instantly check-in by scanning the QR code and start working at your desk!
  • Book a meeting room or desk at any of Deskimo's 100+ locations with its app.

No burning $$$. Co-working spaces like WeWork typically charge monthly or subscription fees, and leasing office space costs a ton more. With Deskimo, pay only for the time used— not a minute more.

🙅🏻 Not a WeWork!

Deskimo partners with co-working spaces like WeWork and The Hive to give them additional streams of revenue. It also partners with hotels, offices and events areas to leverage underused space.

  • It's a win-win since Deskimo gets to offer more locations.
  • It looks for spaces outside CBDs for users to find desks near their homes. A third of their spaces are in residential areas.

✈️ Next stop

Currently active in Singapore and Hong Kong, the startup is expanding to Jakarta, Indonesia. It's also testing out a few cool new features:

  • fixed-fee subscriptions as a second payment option
  • booking centrally-located meeting rooms
  • rate caps for users who want to spend the entire day at a space
  • prepaid credits for companies to offer
