BackScoop 2025 Rewind (Part 1: January-June)

December 23, 2025

🏍️ January

Grab started the year off by acquiring the local operations of the Cambodian super app Nham24.

Specializing in food and grocery delivery, Nham24 also offers ride-hailing and express delivery services.

Indoor air quality monitoring platform uHoo also raised $3.7M to help offices, hospitals, and property developers ensure clean air quality.

✈️ February

Got bitten by the travel bug this year?

Klook raised $100M to drive its next phase of growth across APAC. The travel booking app also secured a deal with the Philippines’ Department of Industry, and recently opened a kiosk and lounge at Clark International Airport.

Meanwhile, Indonesian startup Noovoleum raised $3M to help local communities recycle and earn from their used cooking oil!

🩻 March

In March, healthtechs took the spotlight.

Indonesia’s Bumame, which offers early-detection services, raised a Pre-Series A round to expand its healthcare offerings.

Meanwhile, Singapore-founded digital longevity clinic Mito Health raised an additional $2.2M in seed funding. They sought to expand their US operations.

🍜 April

Feeling hungry? We served up some delicious stories in April.

For BackScoop’s Scoop of Success series, we also wrote about iconic SEA food brands like Indomie, MAMA Noodles, and Potato Corner!

Indonesian homegrown coffee chain Fore Coffee also kicked off their Indonesian Stock Exchange debut, opening at $0.015 per share. Their debut was so strong that the bourse had to pause trading because the stock exceeded the auto-reject threshold!

🔌 May

More power, more energy.

Arysun, which fast-tracks solar energy adoption for middle-income households, raised a $575K pre-seed. Meanwhile, Singapore-based VFlowTech cashed in $20.5M. They offer affordable, scalable long-duration energy storage solutions for the utilities and renewables industries.

Finally, GridCARE came out of stealth and powered up with a $13.5M seed. The firm helps AI data centers (which consume a lot of power and freshwater) access a reliable and scalable source of electric power.

💼 June

Thinking about your firm’s next steps? SEA is home to many family-owned businesses. But what happens when the inheritance question pops up?

Timah Partners is a Singapore-based firm that helps SMEs with their succession plan by offering acquisition solutions and a CEO-in-training program. They raised a $50M Series A earlier in the year!

Speaking of businesses, CoffeeSpace, a Tinder-like matching app for co-founders, also raised $1M.
