Offline, here we come! Singapore-based The Parentinc, which operates the community platform theAsianparent, recently acquired Motherswork!

The details. The Parentinc acquired Motherswork for an undisclosed amount in a mix of cash and equity.

  • The deal is tranched across three years. Oh, and Motherswork’s CEO Sharon Wong, and the rest of their team, will remain on board.

💅 Hello, The Parentinc

It’s been a great couple of years for The Parentinc.

In 2022, they raised a $22M Series D led by East Ventures and also acquired a Vietnamese online community platform for women, Webtretho

  • Besides theAsianparent, they also own a consumer brand, Mama’s Choice.
  • Read our Ice Breakers with The Parentinc Founder and Group CEO, Roshni Mahtani Cheung.

More about Motherswork. Founded in 1998, Motherswork is a luxury retailer of mom-and-baby products. And they currently have physical stores in Singapore and China.

🌟 Game plan, start!

With the acquisition, The Parentinc will be expanding their offline presence in SEA!

  • They’ll be establishing more Motherswork locations in key markets like Vietnam. Oh, and these stores will be exclusively carrying the Mama’s Choice brand.

“It was very clear to me that if you build a brand, it has to be omnichannel. If you do a brand that is just online, you are limiting yourself to only a 20% target market share. If you want to be a big brand, you must go offline.” —Roshni Mahtani Cheung

IPO soon? This move brings The Parentinc closer to their IPO goals. Yes, just like Mamaearth and Firstcry
