Jago Coffee raises $6M for hyperlocal all-electric hyperlocal coffee carts

April 19, 2024

It’s (Ja)go time. Get your daily pick-me-up from Jago Coffee, an Indonesian startup that operates hyperlocal mobile cafes. Now, they’ve just raised a $6M Series A!

Investor check. Beenext Accelerate and Intudo Ventures led the round. Orzon Ventures and D Global Ventures also joined in!

  • Founded in 2020, they last raised a $2.2M Pre-Series A in 2022.
  • They claim to have grown more than 13x in 2023 with profitability across consecutive quarters.

☕️ Your neighborhood barista

They operate a fleet of 100% electric coffee carts with everything their professionally-trained baristas need to make hot and cold drinks.

  • Just use the Jago app to find carts within your neighborhood or order in-app and get it delivered in 15 minutes.
  • There are no minimum orders or delivery fees.

You’ll never drink instant or ready-to-drink coffee again. Their drinks start at around 8,000 IDR ($0.50) and focus on bringing cafe-quality coffee to low to middle-income customers.

What powers it all? They have central depots to produce and package coffee, manage inventory, and forecast supply and demand. And Baristas have their own apps for mobile checkouts, sales optimization, and training.

🔜 What’s next?

The new $$$ is to expand. They currently serve only 7% of Jakarta and aim to hit 50% by the end of this year. They’ll also invest in cart and depot hardware upgrades to improve forecasting and cost-efficiency.

  • They’ll expand from 3 to 15 depots and from 3,00 carts to 1,500!
  • They’re  building geospatial machine learning models to plan expansion and prioritize key locations.
