YGG's surfing the SEA P2E wave

December 29, 2021
Yield Guild Games

Ready your (crypto) wallets! Yield Guild Games Southeast Asia (YGG SEA), a subDAO of the Philippines' Yield Guild Games, is ready to launch its SEA governance token in early 2022.

  • Governance tokens are core to any DAO or subDAO, allowing token holders to shape future decisions and access guild activities and benefits.
  • Token owners will submit and vote on proposals evaluated by the community.

🙌🏼  Divvying it up

If you want to get your hands on it, they'll be having a live token launch on Copper in a limited-time auction. Only 7.5% will be sold in the open market, so we suggest you move as fast as your keyboard can get you.

  • The biggest chunk of its tokens (25%!) is for its community.
  • The remaining will be for its team and advisors, investors, liquidity rewards and DAO treasury.

🌱  Where it started

Early believers. The Philippines' Yield Guild Games raised a $1.3M seed in March 2021. At the time, it had a community of 2,500 gamers playing play-to-earn (P2E) games.

Now, who backed YGG before a16z came along?

  • Delphi Digital, BlockTower, Scalar Capital, Sébastien Borget (The Sandbox), Jeffrey "Jiho" Zirlin (Axie Infinity), Aleksander Larsen (Axie Infinity) and more.

Making waves! In August, it had a $4.6M round led by Silicon Valley's Andreessen Horowitz (a16z). It's a16z's first Philippine bet and its first crypto investment in SEA.

👾  In the now

YGG SEA recently launched and raised $15M, and as a part of its goal to build local-first gaming communities, it appointed country managers across SEA.
